STORY
TOWN
On
November 15, 2008, over 2000 people visited our Fifth Annual
Story Town Family Literacy Festival on Jácome Plaza. This
increase in visitors made
it our
biggest Story
Town yet!

STORY TOWN is
a unique event attracting over 1,000 young children and their
families to explore the neighborhoods
of STORY TOWN. At STORY TOWN, Jácome Plaza
(located at the Main Library in downtown Tucson) is transformed into a
fun, literature-inspired town with seven exciting neighborhoods.
On Storybook
Lane families can enjoy five different children’s
stories read aloud in front of life-size scenery. Life-size
storybook characters will also make appearances. Children will
have the opportunity to be creative at Art
Alley. Literacy
Lane will highlight literacy organizations
in Tucson. Public Library Place features
Pima County Public Library’s services. Fun activities
will take place within the children’s area of the library.
Food and refreshments can be purchased on Snack
Street. Live
music groups will perform on Rhythm
Road. In Nursery
Rhyme Neighborhood, Nursery
Rhyme characters will recite their rhymes and guide children
through
games and
a
book walk
(a cake walk with books instead of cakes!). Children can also
visit Post Office Place where they will send a letter to their
favorite
children’s book
characters.
